Cold Season Diffuser Blend to Keep Your Family Healthy

January 26, 2018

We’re in the height of the cold and flu season here, but thankfully our family has stayed mostly clear of any lingering sickness. I’ve been adamant about using essential oils to keep the germs at bay. I’ve found this great cold season diffuser blend and we’re constantly running the diffuser whenever someone gets a case of the sniffles I load it up with oils I know will clear the air and keep us healthy.

Some family friendly key oils that I use to battle colds are frankincense, lemon and lavender. These are all oils that are safe to diffuse around children and are great at busting first signs of a cold, soothing cold symptoms already present and creating a fresh air environment for your family.

Other oils that are great cold fighters, but not suggested to be used on children are peppermint and eucalyptus. While I do use these oils myself and in our home for certain things — I don’t expose my son (who is a toddler) to them. I’d rather be safe than sorry. It’s always best to do your own research and use oils you are comfortable with for your own family.

Family Friendly Cold Busting Diffuser Blend

Our go to family friendly blend is 2 drops each of frankincense, lemon & lavender. I love the smell. Frankincense has a very earthy smell that reminds me of the holiday season. Lemon is the strong citrusy notes and lavender smooths it out and is soothing.

That’s good to know. I really hate the smell of Frankincense oil, but I like lavender and lemon, and I’m sure that will help cover the Frankincense smell too!

Yeah, maybe just one drop of the frankincense and more of the other two.

I didn’t know that some essential oils weren’t safe to diffuse around kids. I’ll have to read up on that more as I’ve really gotten into them lately and diffuse all day long! Thanks for the tip.

I love these oils! It’s amazing the difference essential oils can make. I feel like there is always lemon oil going in my diffuser.

That oil blend sounds divine! I don’t have a diffuser but I love oils in my oil burner.

Oh boy, right about now I wish I could diffuse those oils, but I have a cat so it could really hurt him! 🙁 but I’m super sick and I know it would help a lot!

Despite their popularity, I haven’t got on the essential oils ‘train’ yet. I feel like I still need to do my own research. Thanks for sharing though.

    Hi Marie,

Essential oils are great for so many health problems and they sure do help the cold and flu – so much better than getting flu shots that don’t work anyway. All 3 of these frankincense, lemon & lavender in a diffuser should smell great and keep everyone in the house healthier. Sharing on social media. Visiting from Bloggers Supporting Each Other. Have a healthy, happy & blessed day!

The oil diffusing over chest and stomach is a good choice for this flu-vulnerable condition. Lavender aroma is great to keep mosquitoes away too 🙂
