Holy smokes! This blogging community has truly blown me away with their kindness and support. This past week I was nominated by two awesome bloggers for the Blogger Recognition Award. With back to school and such it’s taken me a little bit to show my appreciation. It feels great knowing others enjoy my content and support my efforts of creating a beautiful space for readers to convene.
First, a big thank you to fellow bloggers Nikki at The Nikki Theorem and Amanda at Legally Mommy for the nominations! Make sure to visit their blogs and show the love — both have created great spaces!

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?
Blogging is hard work, especially in the beginning. This award is meant to show each other appreciation, admiration, motivation and inspiration.
Why did I start blogging?
I started blogging to have a creative outlet. I’ve always been a pen and paper journaler – so moving into the digital realm seemed like the next step. The notion of starting a blog had been on my mind for years, but finally, over the course of a weekend I just buckled down and jumped in feet first! I’d be lying if I said the lure of making some extra money in my spare time wasn’t part of it — but I’m now discovering that that’s not my end-all be-all. It’s been my labor of love over the past month. It just feels so good to have a “product” that I’ve been working hard on making. I love having a pretty site where I feature things that are near and dear to my heart, and I hope you enjoy visiting often!
My advice to new bloggers:
- Be active on social media!
This is really important. You need traffic on your blog, and you’re going to have to work hard to get it. Set up social media accounts for your blog. Join Facebook groups to post your content and get extra likes, comments, shares from your peers. There’s also Instagram pods, Pinterest Boards and Twitter groups to meet other fellow newbie bloggers who are in the trenches with you. You’ll also learn new blogging tips from these people, which is awesome. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
- If you’re starting your blog to make money — be realistic.
You’re more than likely not going to be making a real income (like 9-5 job income) for a while. Blogging takes a lot of time and effort to gain followers, subscribers and dedicated fans. You need the traffic and interested people to make money.
I’ve also written this post about my other helpful tips for new bloggers. So many bloggers have helped me over the past month that I just want to make sure I’m paying it forward!
Now here’s the fun part — here are 15 other bloggers I’d love to show some blog love to:
Yolanda at Put the Kettle On
Rachel at The Naptime Projects
Patty at Patty Zen
Helen at Natural Beauty with Baby
Yesenia at Fantabulous 40s
Amanda & Jess at Crafternoon Playdate
Mackenzie at Made With Sparkle
Brenda at Paper Heart Family
Kimberly at Farsickness Traveler
Deb at Deb Takes Her Life Back
Kristina at Messy Tired Love
