I’ve always wanted a window seat. Somewhere I could curl up with a good book or sit and stare out the window. So when I first looked at our house I immediately fell in love. The windows are just gorgeous. They’re the old leaded style original to the house, built in 1910 I believe. I love the character, the elegance, just everything about them.
It took me a while to find exactly what I was looking for in regards to seat cushions. For the first several months it was just a catch-all for all the random throw pillows we had, and our dog’s napping space.
It’s a rather long seat, so I eventually opted for two matching cushions just placed together. I think it works. I found some dark gray color matching pillows and a light textured one to complete the look. Both the cushions and pillows I bought from Wayfair.
The dog still naps here, which is fine. This is his neighborhood watch post. He’s usually sitting there when we get home in the afternoon and watches us leave through those windows in the morning.
I’ve toyed with the idea of removing the extra railings against the window. The previous owners were elderly and needed them to make it up the stairs. I don’t completely mind them, because they keep the kids and the dog from leaning up against the fragile glass. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
We also really need to decide on some paint colors for the entire house. Thankfully for now, it’s a nice neutral light beige. It’s such a daunting task for me to commit to a color scheme. Our last home we went with a dark beige and while I loved it at first, I absolutely hated it towards the end. It’s definitely not my style now, I’m looking for gray neutrals this time around.
